Tonight.

Tonight I am getting together with 10 of my girlfriends from college to have an awesomely fun girl's night/slumber party. It's been over 4 years since I have been in the same room with all of these girls, and I am so excited!

We were all in a sorority together - varying years - and some of my favorite memories from my college years involve all of us together, strewn about on living room furniture, rehashing the previous night's happenings and laughing so hard we cried.

Groups of 2 or 3 of us lived together in apartments and houses spread out over Seguin throughout our 4 years, and the last summer I was in town, we decided we should all rent a house - make it an unofficial sorority house. There were 10 of us in there at one point and really, we should have known better, because OH THE DRAMA. Also, the house was like, 700 years old and literally falling apart around us, so yeah, not the wisest decision. Still, when I moved out to become an adult and come home to find a job, I bawled my head off for half the drive to Houston because all I could think about was how lonely my mornings were going to be without all of them to talk to.

Some of them are married, some have kids, some are still in Seguin and some have done amazing things in the last 4 years. I am blessed to have a group of women like them in my life and I am so excited to be able to spend some time with all of them again.

What I Love Wednesday

I am obsessed with photos of bubbles!! So happy and sparkly - reminds me of picnics and warm breezes and sunset. Also, dogs and bubbles? Hilarious!

Balloons also make my heart leap a little right now. Anyone ever been hot air ballooning? I am afraid I would pass out.

Also? Disneyland. A summer without Disneyland isn't a real summer, in my opinion. I haven't had a REAL summer in a long time...

We remember

Tonight I am going to a concert in the Woodlands where, no doubt, something patriotic will be sung because it's a COUNTRY show (I know...who am I??) and there will likely be a moment of silence taken to remember and mourn the devastating losses our country suffered 8 years ago today.

To all those who keep us safe each day, I thank you.

What I Love Wednesday

THIS WEBSITE. Go there and make your photos into Polaroids! I am so ridiculously in love with Polaroid pictures. I have an old camera, but no film. Boo. I hear there is a movement to bring it back. Anyone hoarding any I can buy from you in the meantime?

I am in the process of decorating our master bathroom. It's really small and has no windows, so it's a difficult space to work with, but I have painted it light colors, and will be switching out all the rugs and towels, so hopefully that will help. I want to hang a chandelier above the tub (which we never use), and I am SO IN LOVE with this one from Ikea (imagine it in white):

THIS Etsy shop. Her paintings are FABULOUS. I want one for the house.

She has a blog called A Beautiful Mess (click link below)

and she owns a store called
Red Velvet Art and sells stuff like this:

and this:

Can't you imagine those cute little vinyl underwares up on the bathroom wall? LOVE!

These shoes - found HERE:

Labor Day

We definitely did not labor on Labor Day...

I Slept in until 12. I haven't done that in YEARS, y'all. Clearly, I needed a serious recharge.

We didn't cook a thing. Unless you count peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at 9:30pm, which I don't, just so you know. I poured myself a bowl of Raisin Bran for breakfast (ahem...at 12...) and then we went to Taco Cabana for dinner, while we were on our way home from Best Buy where we purchased the series that will consume our nights for the next week (keep reading).

SK and I bought (BOUGHT...not rented. This is serious) the first season of True Blood and started watching it last night. I am obsessed, and was slightly worried he wouldn't be as into it. Solid YES that he is? At 10:45, when episode 2 was over, he asked me to stay awake with him and watch "just one more episode." Homie is HOOKED. Yay ;)

I love days like yesterday.
I hope your Labor Day was as non-laborious as ours!

Lone 'cone

I was in New Mexico for work a few weeks ago and we went on a hike.

A hike.

If you know me, you know how funny that is for me to type.

I do not fucking hike.

I felt uncoordinated and out of place. Like I was the only person on that damn hill who didn't belong and I desperately prayed for another hike-challenged hiker to come along and save me.

And then I saw this little guy. The only pine cone on any of the trees we had passed. Just hanging out, being small and waiting for his buddies to show up and join the party. And all of a sudden, I didn't feel so alone anymore.
